چکیده
This paper deals with the problem of controlling traffic at motorways bottlenecks in presence an unknown, time-varying, Fundamental Diagram (FD). The FD may change over time due to composition or Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) varying driving characteristics penetration rates. A novel methodology, based on Model Reference Adaptive Control, is presented robustly estimate time-varying set-points that maximise bottleneck throughput. proposed approach integrated a control scheme includes linear quadratic integral regulator designed which comprises percentage CAVs. Overview of Motorway Network Traffic Control Strategies
The efficient, safe, and less polluting transportation of persons and goods on motorways calls for an optimal utilisation of the available infrastructure via suitable application of a variety of traffic control measures. The recent developments and advances in the areas of computation and communications may support this effort, but it is evident that the efficiency of traffic control depends on...
متن کاملADAPTIVE FUZZY TRACKING CONTROL FOR A CLASS OF NONLINEAR SYSTEMS WITH UNKNOWN DISTRIBUTED TIME-VARYING DELAYS AND UNKNOWN CONTROL DIRECTIONS
In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy control scheme is proposed for a class of perturbed strict-feedback nonlinear systems with unknown discrete and distributed time-varying delays, and the proposed design method does not require a priori knowledge of the signs of the control gains.Based on the backstepping technique, the adaptive fuzzy controller is constructed. The main contributions of the paper...
متن کاملFeedback-Based Integrated Motorway Traffic Flow Control
Congestion on motorways is a serious problem of modern societies. It reduces the nominal capacity of the motorway infrastructure, with serious impact on travel times, traffic safety, fuel consumption and environmental pollution. Various traffic management measures have been proposed to alleviate traffic congestion but are known to face limitations. An integrated motorway traffic flow control co...
متن کاملSpillback congestion in dynamic traffic assignment : a macroscopic flow model with time - varying bottlenecks
In this paper, we propose a new model for the within-day Dynamic Traffic Assignment (DTA) on road networks in which we explicitly address the simulation of queue spillovers where a user equilibrium is expressed as a fixed-point problem in terms of arc flow temporal profiles, i.e., in the infinite dimension space of time’s functions. The model integrates spillback congestion into an existing for...
